IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum at the European Meetings and Events Conference

The third IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum of 2012 took place at the MPI European Meetings and Events Conference (EMEC) 29-31 January in Budapest, Hungary. A total of 18 handpicked students were selected from key universities throughout Europe to participate in this exclusive programme. Several of these students also volunteered to be educational assistants during the entire conference, gaining strong practical experience and soaking up knowledge from attending the educational sessions.

The Forum started with dynamic presentations from IMEX’s Dale Hudson and MCI’s Patrick Delaney followed short introductions about MPI by Krzysztof Celuch, Poland CVB and Antti Lumiainen, MPI. Five students entered the University Challenge and three were chosen as finalists. George Lazarou, Glion Institute of Higher Education, and Karolina Jaworska, University of Economics and Computer Science, Warsaw, eventually lost out to Heidi Vartiainen, Lahti Polytechnic. Heidi will be competing alongside four other international future leaders in the final stage of the Challenge at IMEX in Frankfurt 2012.

Following the exclusive Future Leaders Forum the students not only had the opportunity to attend the various EMEC sessions but also had a focus group session dedicated to them, which was led by Jackie Mulligan, Principal Lecturer, Leeds Metropolitan University. All 18 future leaders will also attend the IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum at IMEX 2012 in Frankfurt, Germany as part of the MPI scholarship programme.

"I feel that the Future Leaders Forum was a great, intuitive way to enable us the students to make our first steps towards the professional events community and interact with experienced delegates."
