Make it appropriate for both the giver and receiver.
It is easy to make an international “faux pas.”
Work closely with your local contacts in the know.
Seek out an initiative similar to or the same as the host company’s adopted charity.
For example, if they work with the United Way, try and incorporate this project into the incentive
programme.
Find out what is really needed. For example, find out if a school needs school supplies or
a cash donation to use for another purpose.
Paint or construct a house for “Habitat for Humanity” or a similar community initiative. www.habitat.org
Organise a silent auction of artwork from local artists to raise funds for a local cause.
Support environmental initiatives. Most everyone supports efforts to reycle and conserve.
For example, donate floral centrepieces to local senior homes…etc
Honour incentive qualifiers with a piece of the rainforest, “adopting” an extinct
wildlife species, lanting a tree.
See if there is a local children’s music or dance troupe that would consider a small
performance in exchange for a donation to their scholarship fund or costume treasury.
